How much does house cleaning cost?
We charge $65 per hour. What that comes to depends on the size and condition of your home. As a guide: a first clean typically runs $280 to $465, a deep clean $350 to $465, a move-in or move-out clean $310 to $610, and ongoing recurring visits $150 to $250. You get an estimate and a hard time ceiling before anyone shows up.
What is a time ceiling?
It is the maximum hours we will work without checking with you first. The cleaner works up to the ceiling and then stops and calls before spending any additional time. You are never billed past it without approving it. It is not a flat cap on work, it is a cap on what you can be charged by surprise.
Why hourly instead of a flat rate?
Because a flat quote built on bedrooms and bathrooms alone does not know that your house is a 1920s row home with profiled trim, radiators and plank floors with gaps. Companies that quote flat either pad the price to cover the worst case or cut the job short when it runs long. Hourly with a ceiling means you pay for the work actually done and you still know the worst case up front.
Do I need to be home?
No. Plenty of our clients leave a key, a lockbox code or a garage code and are never there. Tell us how to get in and whether there are pets, and we will handle it.
Do I need to provide cleaning supplies?
No. Your cleaner brings their own supplies and equipment. If you have a product you want used on a particular surface, leave it out with a note and we will use it.
Do you clean windows?
No. Our insurance does not cover window glass, so we do not offer it at any price. We do clean reachable window sills and frames as part of a deep clean or a move clean.
Will I get the same cleaner every time?
On a recurring schedule, yes, that is the default and we work hard to protect it. If your regular cleaner is sick or on vacation we will either brief a backup thoroughly or reschedule you, whichever you prefer. We ask rather than surprise you.
How often should I schedule?
Biweekly is the most common choice and suits most households. Weekly makes sense with pets, young children or a full house. Monthly works if you keep on top of things day to day and want a reset. If you are not sure, start biweekly and adjust after a month.
What is the difference between a standard clean and a deep clean?
A standard clean covers kitchen and bathrooms in full, dusting of reachable surfaces, and floors vacuumed and mopped. A deep clean adds the detail work that gets skipped week to week: baseboards and chair rails, door frames and handles, light switches, cabinet exteriors, the oven hood exterior, reachable light fixtures, and reachable sills and frames.
Do you do move-out cleans for a landlord inspection?
Yes, and it is a good chunk of what we do. Move cleans add the interiors that only make sense in an empty home: inside the oven, inside and behind the fridge, and inside cabinets, drawers and closets. Tell us if there is a specific inspection standard you need to hit and we will plan the time around it.
What if something is not right?
Tell us. We would much rather hear it than not. We will make it right on the next visit or address it directly depending on what happened. We are a small operation and our reputation is the whole business.
How far ahead do I need to book?
For a one-time clean, usually a few days to a week depending on your area and the day you want. Recurring schedules we can usually start within a week or two. Move cleans tied to a closing date are worth booking as soon as you have the date.
